Bicycle Parking

The Office of Transportation provides publicly accessible bicycle parking and works with businesses and the community to provide better long and short-term bicycle parking throughout the city. The City works to:
  • develop "bike central", combined bicycle parking, shower, and changing facilities with area athletic clubs and parking providers convenient to central city commuters;
  • install and rent bicycle lockers, located downtown and at transit centers.
  • installs bicycle racks. To date, we have installed 2000 racks throughout Portland.
  • provide guidelines on installing bicycle parking and routes that works best for a given location.
  • provide guidelines for designing and locating on-street non-standard bike racks "Art Bike Racks" Guidelines. For more information on these guidelines and the permitting process call (503) 823-5266.
